Thursday 17th October
Concord, New Hampshire...
...and onwards...!
Time to leave Boston, and step out into the rest of New England.
The car is hilarious.
It’s pretty much a ‘Monster Truck’.

Our first stop of the day would be Concord, New Hampshire,
and our 19th State Capital.
It was a nice but rainy journey of just over an hour,
punctuated by our traditional Walmart stop.
Unusually, it was a disappointing experience, as they seemed to sell bugger all that we wanted.
No fresh produce at all, and no root beer.
Diet Coke for a little longer then!

Concord seemed like a really nice place.
Old style Main Street, and friendly people.
It’s the birthplace of NASA’s “Teacher In Space”, Christa McAuliffe,
and she was a teacher at the local High School.
It’s also the first stop on every Presidential campaign, as it’s a swing state.
Had a great chat to a lady in the State House about the upcoming Primaries.
Fascinating.

We had a really lovely lunch of hot sandwiches at The Barley House,
a famous political eatery opposite the State House.
We continued on to Portland, Maine, passing through the beautiful town of Portsmouth.
Would have stopped, but we were getting tired, and it was cold and rainy.
We decided to get to our final destination of Portland,
grab a few snacks, and snuggle down for the night.
We arrived just before 6pm, got a parking space outside the apartment,
popped into the local CVS to get some fruit juice, crisps, and choccy biccys,
and then hauled everything up the 49 steps to our 4th floor apartment.
We were knackered.
